Take Part in the "Count Me In! And Win" Contest
Jul. 30, 2009
July 29, 2009 ~ Canadian Niagara Power Inc/Fortis Ontario:
The Count Me In! Community Challenge, taking place between now and August 14, the anniversary of the North American blackout in 2003, is now underway. The Community Challenge is a joint initiative of the OPA, the City of Woodstock (which has led a municipal Blackout Day Challenge for the past several years), the Association of Municipalities of Ontario, the Independent Electricity System Operator and the Electricity Distributors Association.
The Town of Fort Erie and the City of Port Colborne have both entered to compete in this challenge. If you do not live in either of these municipalities, and would like to find out if your municipality has entered the challenge, please visit the Count Me In! website at www.countmeinontario.ca.
Not only can your community “win” by you signing up for the challenge, you will also be entered into both the daily draws but also a grand prize draw (details below). All you have to do is sign up! There is no tracking of your household energy savings that day – just the community as a whole.
The Count Me In! Community Challenge is comprised of two challenges (with results announced in August):
- The highest percentage drop in electricity consumption on August 14, and
- The highest per capita participation in the Count Me In! pledge drive between now and August 14.
HERE’S WHERE YOU CAN TAKE PART. The purpose of Ontario Power Authority’s Count Me In! and Win Contest is to encourage residents in the Province of Ontario to take the Count Me In! Pledge offered by the Ontario Power Authority. The Contest begins on June 1, 2009 at 9:00am and ends August 7, 2009 at 12:00pm.
To be eligible to enter the Contest, you must first take the CMI Pledge available at www.countmeinontario.ca. Once you have completed the CMI Pledge, you will be automatically entered into the Contest.
