The Greater Fort Erie Chamber of Commerce

(Fort Erie) August 15, 2009~  The Greater Fort Erie Chamber of Commerce, in keeping with its mission to promote education, was pleased to present seven local students with $500 bursary cheques on Sunday, August 14 at Bridgewater Country Club.

The Chamber’s Bursary committee reviewed more than 40 applications and with generous financial contributions from P. Mines Customs Services, Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 230 Ridgeway, and Dean Demizio State Farm Insurance, were able to offer three additional bursaries this year.

The cheque presentation was held at a special brunch with family and friends held in honour of the deserving students which made possible from table sponsorships from Meridian Credit Union, Brock University, District School Board of Niagara, Niagara Catholic District School Board, Niagara College, and the Business Education Council. Special guests in attendance included Kim Craitor, MPP and Anna Annunziata on behalf of MP Rob Nicholson, who provided the students with recognition certificates.

Recipients of this year's bursary awards are,  from left to right: Nicole Marr (FESS), Deron Li (Lakeshore), Lindsey Middleton (RCBHS), Alexis Muscat (Lakeshore), Jennifer Kaestner (RCBHS),  Victoria Watson (RCBHS), and Mitchell Aliberti (FESS).
